Since I took over from Maureen Beard and become Chairman of this very successful and enterprising travel group, I find that we are going from strength to strength. We have met every first Friday of the month at the Christ Church in Oswestry.

Our Group is now 70 plus strong, and last year we had an average monthly attendance of 49.  We meet at

10.30 am on the first Friday of the month at the meeting rooms at Christ Church. All are welcome.

 Programme for 2008, as follows:-

A waterways cruise to the bulb fields of Holland from 27th March – 5th April. 

A week’s trip to Ireland is planned from 16th – 21st  June.

A week in Strasbourg is scheduled for  1st – 5th September.

Hopefully we shall spend some time in Venice also this year.

 After a successful week-end trip to Cardiff last October, we shall go down to South Wales again for another week-end visit, this time in and around Swansea, taking in the Gower area. 

We hope to have at least half a dozen day trips to places of interest, and no doubt another “Mystery Trip”.  We did try to organise a trip to the Edinburgh Tattoo, but found this to be fully booked at the venue, so shall have to make plans early for 2009. 

Whilst planning ahead, perhaps we have some younger members of the U3A who would like to go to the Passion Plays at Oberammergau in 2010.  When told we have to book two years in advance, some of us wondered if we would be around at this time (sorry to end on this sombre note).  Ideas for trips or holidays are always welcome. 

Our trips are circulated to all members of the Travel Group first, and if there are any places left, then we invite fellow members of U3A to join us.
